Self-defense ≠ Not turning the other cheek

It's the day you've all been waiting for. A Logic Fail from somebody that claims to be a Christian. I do not know this individual, but they are a friend of a friend, and my friend shared this image, from them, on my facebook wall.

Not in the picture, but as their caption on the image they had this, "Psalms 18:2 'Yahweh is my rock, and my fortress, my deliver, my Creator, my strength, in whom" for whatever reason they didn't have the full verse, so I'll give you a full copy of the verse. Psalms 18:2 The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.
What's really funny is how this verse is taken from a chapter where David is thanking the Lord for victory and deliverance in battle. It gets really good when we go down to verses 37-39.
37 I have pursued mine enemies, and overtaken them: neither did I turn again till they were consumed.
38 I have wounded them that they were not able to rise: they are fallen under my feet.
39 For thou hast girded me with strength unto the battle: thou hast subdued under me those that rose up against me.
David is obviously talking about fighting here, and sure it wasn't with a gun, they didn't have guns back then, but it was with the weapons of the day, swords, bows, spears, etc.

Now I don't care if you believe in the Bible or not, I was just sharing some of the fail in the image from the source they were taking information from, HOWEVER there is logic fail without even taking into consideration they are taking things out of context.

Does turning the other cheek = not defending yourself?
Does self defense = shoot everybody that makes you mad or upset?

I didn't think either of those were true, but what do I know? I can't tell you how many times people have done things that have upset me, or made me mad, and you know what, I've never shot anybody, and yes, I have a gun, and yes, it's for self-defense. Most recently I've been getting upset with parents that are terrifying their kids by bringing them through the aisle of the Halloween decorations that we have at Menards, where I work. I've not shot anybody, haven't spoken a word to any of the parents, though I have commented to others about how I dislike it, and wish parents weren't so stupid. Now maybe you're thinking, "Hey wait, that's not turning the other cheek." I'll give you that, let me give you another example. There was this person, who had been planing with me, for years about something, and then about half a month before the event came around they called it off, that was pretty hurtful, I didn't do anything to retaliate though, I turned the other cheek, they'll probably hurt me more, and I'll have to turn back to the original cheek, but hey, that's life.

So far I haven't really busted the bad logic, I've just given a few personal examples and stuff. So where does the Logic fail lie?
Often failed logic becomes very evident when you flip a statement backwards. So the image says, If you say you need a gun for self-defense Then your spirit has already decided NEVER to turn the other cheek. Let's flip it around. Your spirit has already decided NEVER to turn the other cheek If you say you need a gun for self-defense. Never, really, NEVER, the minute you say you need a gun for self-defense, you can NEVER turn the other cheek again, this means, according to the logic in the image, as soon as you get a gun for self-defense, you need to shoot everybody that gets you upset or hurts you. As a side note, the lack of punctuation in the graphic became painfully evident when I typed that text out, some people.
Does it make any sense to you to think that if you have a gun you can never turn the other cheek, this would be like saying, the minute you purchase a car you'll never walk again. Like Srsly* people, think a minute before you write out silly stuff like this. Turning the other cheek isn't going to do much good when somebody is coming at you with a knife, don't expect them to stop after they cut you twice, it's not going to happen, unless two cuts is all it takes to put you down. Self-defense is NOT the only time when you can turn the other cheek, turning the other cheek applies to more things than just self defense.

*Srsly = Seriously, I just like to pronounce it as Srsly, it sounds way cooler.

As always this isn't an attack of anybody or anything, save for the failed logic used in the graphic.
